Theme Housing

Main content start

In the neighborhood model, we aim to preserve the opportunity for choice and exploration during a student’s time at Stanford by continuing to offer theme housing. Our University Theme Houses are open to all students across the neighborhoods. You will have the opportunity to apply to live in the UTH of greatest interest to you. We will have two types of theme housing: Neighborhood Theme Houses and University Theme Houses.

Neighborhood Theme Houses

Each neighborhood can create neighborhood theme houses, under the direction of the neighborhood’s community council. These theme houses can be changed annually and are only open to the residents of the neighborhood.

University Theme Houses

These houses are available to students from every neighborhood and can be up to 25% of the bed space in a neighborhood. Students apply to live in these houses. University theme houses include academic theme houses, ethnic theme dorms and special interest houses such as co-ops and housed fraternities and sororities.
